Quality Assurance
In order to ensure the quality and credibility of the education and training system and its output, the SQA must ascertain that all courses meet the required standards or stated outcomes of a qualification. This is course validation. It must also ensure that training providers have the capacity to deliver courses in accordance with those standards and outcomes. This is accreditation.
Quality assurance is therefore fitness for purpose – of the qualification being at the level required, and of the institution having the human, physical and organizational requirements in place to deliver the qualifications for which they have been accredited.
